Feeling a little ‘stuck’? If you want a quick-fire, hands on approach to getting clarity and forward-thinking back in your life, this is the service for you.
For those who want the ‘Executive Summary’ – this is the 121, face to face programme giving you all the best of hypnotherapy, yoga and NLP in one handy package to get you un-stuck and raring to go!
P.S. Don’t let the word ‘hypnotherapy’ put you off – I was really sceptical at first too but it’s a great tool, and the way I do it, there’s none of that ‘close your eyes…SLEEP’ freaky deaky stuff!
What is this ‘yoga’ you speak of – will I have to get all physical?
Not at all! I’ll be using some yoga tools and a yoga philosophy – there might be a few gentle stretches if I think they’ll be helpful and if you already do yoga I might incorporate more but generally, I’ll be using pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation to gain clarity and focus.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is therapy conducted when you are under hypnosis. This means you are put into a very relaxed state so although you may appear asleep, you are not. This allows me to access to the sub-levels of consciousness and makes it easier to alter behaviour and thought processes on a subtle level. This means that there’s less resistance to change. I know that change freaks lots of you out so even though you know you want to more forward and get un-stuck, it kinda scares you a bit too. Here’s a secret though – the fear is good – it’s exciting – we just need to get you to the stage where you’re confident enough to face it head on!
Hypnotherapy is completely safe and can only be conducted with your consent i.e. I won’t make you dance like a chicken – 1. because that’s not ethical and 2. because if I asked you to, your brain would stand up and say ‘Hey – I’m not doing that you fool! (of course, if you harbour a secret wish to dance like a chicken it may well happen…that’s another reason why I would never ask you to – that would freak me out!)). If at any point you want to stop whilst under hypnosis you can, but I’ve never had anyone want to!
We have a brain filter which develops at around 6 years old so before this, everything goes in – good or bad! After it has developed the brain can discriminate a bit more. If you have an experience, it can decide whether that experience ‘goes’ with other experiences or beliefs stored in the subconscious. If it does it will be allowed in, if not it will be rejected.
This is why fears or phobias are so difficult to get rid of under normal circumstances. Your conscious mind is telling you something isn’t scary but for some reason you won’t believe it. At some point in time your subconscious decided something was scary and now it’s stuck in the archive!
Using hypnosis, we can ‘suspend’ the filter to get access to the subconscious and plant new and improved suggestions in there without it throwing them out, much like when you get engrossed in a fantasy book or film and you know what you’re reading or seeing isn’t physically possibly but you believe it temporarily.
No-one can be hypnotised against their will, however everyone can be put into the state of deep relaxation that is required for effective hypnosis. Hypnosis feels different for everyone, but many people feel very relaxed during hypnosis with a feeling of heaviness or lightness.
Hypnosis can also happen spontaneously in people, for example, when you’re driving along and suddenly realise you’ve driven the last 5 miles and not been aware or it, or when you’re watching your favourite programme and can’t hear someone trying to get your attention. It’s simply focused but relaxed attention.
Once you are relaxed you are able to access the subconscious more easily and can uncover problems or re-train / re-programme aspects of your mind without the difficultly you might experience in a fully awake state. If at anytime you want to stop the session you can do this safely and effectively.
At the end of the session you will be brought back to a state of full consciousness and will feel all refreshed and relaxed – awesome!
