Think you should be doing something else?

Is there something you wish you could do, or be, or go see…but you can’t because of whatever reason?

Whenever you’re doing something which isn’t really what you want to be doing, you create resistance and tension within yourself. This is what causes a lot of people’s health issues.

What would you do if you won the lottery? If you won £30m how would your life change? Continue reading

The Yoga Experiment Part 1

For the past week and a half I have been diligently listening to a Yoga Nidra audio by Swami Muktibodhanana Saraswati and promised last week to continue it for a month and post my experiences online.

Previously, I have only ever had one yoga nidra session, done in an extended yoga class in Liverpool a few years back. At that time I thought it was just a nice way to relax for half an hour.

Yoga nidra is a gradual relaxation of the muscles of the body, focusing on each section of the body at a time, allowing your body to become ‘one-pointed’ or to attain Dharana, the 6th of Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga. Continue reading

The Yoga Experiment

During my week in Devon, I have to say, I’ve been pretty lazy! My days have consisted of yoga, eating, reading and lazing in the hotub, which has been bliss.

Some good has come out of this though.

I gained a lot of clarity over the week and a lot of that has come from my yoga practice. I’m moving things forward in one area of my business and re-jigging the website to make it more user-friendly. From a personal perspective, I feel more able to connect with people and allowing myself to be more open. Continue reading

Why it's OK to change your mind

I’ve been reading a lot recently about the best ways to keep you lovely people happy (great tips here) and how to get more people to know about this site. The majority of these tips focus around giving lots of quality stuff away for free – good news for you!

The other common theme is to have a theme and stick to it, so people know what you’re about and what they can expect from you.

I totally get this. It makes sense. You’ll keep visiting a site because you’re interested in travel and it’s a travel site.

But sometimes I think you’ll stay with a site because you’ve decided you like the person writing – they entertain you. They’re always doing crazy stuff and letting you know about it. But then I suppose that’s a theme too.

My theme is confidence in yourself – that inner confidence that let’s you know you’re on the right path and you can do it.

That’s not all I’m about though, and it’s not all I want this site to be about. This site is about feeling good – in yourself and about yourself. It’s about trusting yourself and pushing yourself. It’s about positive thinking and self-development in the fullest sense of the words. Continue reading

When it's OK to be scared (and how to figure out if it's right to be cautious)

I spend a lot of time writing on here about how most of the time we get in our own way and how we need to push ourselves, take risks and move forward; only then will we give ourselves the much needed confidence boost to know we can do it.

What I probably haven’t said enough is that sometimes it is best to be cautious.

Sometimes your gut tells you something for a reason – not because it’s scared or thinks you’ll fail, but because actually that move isn’t right for you at that time.

Hug it out or stiff upper lip? What's your emotional IQ?

A few of my colleagues and I were talking yesterday and stumbled upon an interesting topic (well, it was to us anyway!), which I thought I’d share with you today.

What’s your take on physical contact? As in, random people or acquaintances getting up close and personal with you. Does the idea of a hug from a stranger completely creep you out?

Are you the typical British person who starts to panic if someone other than their partner or best friend tries to give you a hug? Or will you happily welcome everyone in to your life with a kiss on the cheek or a warm embrace?

2012 Predictions and plans…join the revolution!

At this time of year it’s always customary to take stock and make plans. Personally, I hate conforming to the stereo-type of joining a gym on January 1st, going for a month then never going again, doomed to spend the next 11 months watching £60 come out of your bank every month for nothing.

However…

This year I find myself doing exactly that. Well, not exactly (I’m already a member of a gym, not that I go as much as I should!) but I have been scheming. Not in a menacing way but more in a ‘let’s have a look at my future’ way.

You see, I’ve avoided doing that for a while because I have a tendency to focus too much on the future and not enough on the present, consequently missing out on lots of awesome stuff!
